Liukeng Village, known as "the first village of the ages", has a history of more than a thousand years. Among the more than 500 existing buildings in the village, there are more than 260 ancient buildings and relics in Ming and Qing Dynasties, including 19 buildings and relics in Ming Dynasty. Among these traditional buildings, there are classical residential buildings, magnificent ancestral hall buildings, and elegant and unique temple buildings, which are breathtaking.

Liukeng has been rated as a famous historical and cultural village in China, a national AAAA-level tourist scenic spot, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and was selected as the first batch of traditional Chinese villages.

The evaluation criteria mainly include: first, it has a long history of building a village, and the Chinese traditional culture is deeply deposited; second, a certain number of ancient buildings such as houses are preserved, and the buildings have strong local characteristics, high craftsmanship, artistic value, and ornamental value. ; Three have a certain popularity. Due to the constraints of manpower, material resources, financial resources, time and professional knowledge, the degree of research on ancient villages (research intensity, depth, and breadth) is limited. The ancient villages of Midea have not yet been on the list; 2. It is difficult to establish a purely quantitative index system for the evaluation of "the most beautiful ancient villages". On the basic objective evaluation criteria, there are also subjective aesthetic judgments. During the evaluation process of the list, some experts proposed some ancient villages with high reputation, which were over-developed and gradually lost their original charm. A warning should be raised; whether some restored ancient villages can be included in the list is a matter of opinion. The wise see wisdom. Some experts believe that some of the original villages have profound history and culture, and the existing buildings have a high degree of antiquity. Because they meet the evaluation tenet of the "Most Beautiful Ancient Villages" list of "discovering beauty, spreading beauty, and enjoying beauty".
